Does your child have a Big Shanty “team” shirt? If not, please consider purchasing a t-shirt for $10.00 so that they can show their team pride! Order forms are available in the front office.

What’s happening at Big Shanty?

Hi, Parents,

We had an exciting STEM day last Friday; our 5th graders built levees to prevent a flood in “STEM town.” The kids had a great time and they were successful in using the engineering design process. We can’t wait to see what they will design on the next STEM day!

Three quick reminders: (1)Progress reports for the 1st 9 weeks will go home on Wednesday, September 5th,  (2) Permission slips for the 5th grade field trip are due on Friday, September 7th, and (3)Iowa testing for 5th graders will begin on Thursday, September 13th.

We have also continued our “Voyage” character education program. The focus of the first unit is respect. Please use the conversation starters below to learn about the “Voyage” from your child.
