Weekly Update: 8/13/21
We’ve made it through the first 2 weeks of school!
Mrs. Hinson, Mrs. Casella, Mrs. Walstead, & Mrs. Ramon are so happy with all we have accomplished in such a short time. We have gotten to know each other, gone to specials, (in the actual art/music/STEM/PE classrooms!) taken reading and math pre-assessments and began our ELA and math units of study.
In math, we will be learning about the order of operations. If your child would like to practice at home, check out this video from Khan Academy: Order of Operations Video
In ELA, we are reading the novel Esperanza Rising and learning about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. If your child is ever absent, they may follow along with the book with this link (which is also on CTLS): Esperanza Rising book Online
Next week, we will begin our 2-week grammar unit on conjunctions. The kids still love to listen to Schoolhouse Rock! Here is a link to the “Conjunction-Junction” video: Conjunction Junction song
Important Reminder- If you need to change your child’s transportation home, please send in a written note. Please DO NOT send us an e-mail; if the teacher is absent or unable to check e-mail until the end of the day, your child will not get home safely/to the correct place. Thank you for your help with this.
We have loved getting to know your children and are looking forward to a great school year.
Oh goodness! That’s a total earworm!
“Conjunction junction what’s your function?”
